Attendance
Attendance at Enfield Community College
At Enfield Community College, we place a strong emphasis on the importance of regular school attendance. Consistent attendance is one of the key factors in a student’s success, it supports academic progress, builds positive learning habits, and helps students feel fully part of school life. Every day in school is a step towards achieving their potential.
We work closely with parents and guardians to support good attendance and to address any issues that may arise. We understand that absences can sometimes be unavoidable, and we encourage families to communicate with us promptly if a student is unwell or unable to attend.
Staying Up to Date on the Compass App
Our school uses the Compass Education App to keep parents informed about their child’s attendance. This system helps us identify any issues early and offer support before small challenges become bigger barriers to attendance. Through the app, you can:
- View up-to-date attendance records.
- Submit absence notes and explanations.
- Receive notifications about unexplained absences.
To ensure our records are accurate and up to date, we ask that parents:
- Log any absences on the Compass App as soon as possible.
- Provide a reason for each absence.
- Notify the school in advance, where possible, if your child will be absent for any reason, even for a partial day absence.
Together, by promoting strong attendance habits and maintaining regular communication, we can help every student at Enfield Community College reach their full potential.

What You Can Do as a Parent/Guardian
Encourage and Support: Talk to your child about the importance of being in school on time every day.
Appointments: Inform the school in advance of any essential appointments, ideally scheduling them outside school hours whenever possible.
If in Doubt, Send Them In: If you’re unsure whether your child is well enough for school, send them in — many students feel better once they arrive. If they are genuinely unwell or contagious, please keep them at home until they are fit to return.
Transport Back-Up: Have a plan in case your child misses their usual transport. Consider support from a family member, neighbour, or friend. We have bike racks and encourage students to walk where possible.
Talk to Us: If attendance is a challenge, please contact us early. We are here to work with you and support your family.
Check Compass Regularly: Reviewing attendance and punctuality regularly gives you clear insight into your child’s school routine.
What We Will Do as a School
Daily Welcome: We will greet students each morning and support them in starting their day positively.

Lateness Note: You can check via Compass if your child arrives late.
Communication: We will contact you to discuss attendance concerns where necessary.

Welfare Home Visits: If we cannot establish the reason for an absence, we may conduct a visit to ensure your child’s wellbeing.
Positive Attendance Promotion: We celebrate good attendance through competitions and awards ceremonies.
Remember, open communication is key. We are here to support your child in achieving consistent and positive attendance.
